A hinge for a window 7 turnable about a horizontal axis through 180 degrees comprises a member 2 secured to the fixed frame 1 and provided with a trunnion bearing 4 and a guide channel 3, a channel-section member 8 secured to the window and provided with a trunnion bearing 9 and a trunnion 10 movable in the channel 3, and an arm 14 provided with a pair of trunnions 15 and 16 disposed in the bearings 4 and 9 respectively. Bearing 4, which is situated at the upper end of channel 3, is closed by a cover 5 removable to allow the window to be disengaged from the frame. Trunnion 16, which is retained in position by a pivoted blade 12, is slotted circumferentially and is formed with a tapered bore engaged by a tapered member 18, the position of which is adjustable by means of a screw 19 to vary the degree of friction between the trunnion and bearing.
