762,202. Supporting light reflectors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. March 11, 1955 [Feb. 2, 1954], No. 3084/54. Class 75(2) [Also in Group XXIV] A support mechanism for supporting a detachable reflector of a lighting fitting in either of two positions comprises a lever 13 pivoted at one end on a pivot 9 of a fixed bracket 1 and carrying at its other end a link 15 with an eye 16 for engagement by a hook or the like on the reflector. Intermediate its length the lever 13 has a slot 21 housing a steel ball 22 which also co-operates with a cam recess 7 in a side surface of the bracket 1 formed by an outer web 5 and a central island 23. The island 23 has on its lower end a recess 24 and beneath this recess is a pointed projection 25 from the outer web 5. A spring 18 tends to maintain the lever 13 and the reflector carried thereby in one of two positions, one as shown with the ball 22 in the recess 24 and the other in which the ball lies in the top apex of the groove 7. Movement from the one position shown to the other is effected by pulling down the lever 13 so that the ball 22 engages the inclined side of projection 25 and moves to the right, and then releasing the lever to allow the ball to move up the right hand branch of groove 7 to the top apex. A further downward movement of lever 13 will cause the ball 22 to travel down the left hand branch of groove 7 until it engages the vertical face of projection 25 and, on release of the lever, to re-engage in recess 24. In the lower position of the lever 13 the reflector can be removed and replaced but in the upper position it is held securely in operating position by the spring 18. More than one of these support mechanisms can be used for a reflector. In a modified form a supporting member is vertically movable in guides and carries a pin which co-operates with a cam projection on a pivoted latch plate. The support is spring biased for its pin to engage either in a recess in the lower cam surface or to pass along the side of the cam to a position above the cam apex.
