Abstract

In the dyeing of polyacrylonitrile fibres with anionic dyestuffs, e.g., acid, direct or indigosol dyestuffs, in the presence of a cuprous compound which is formed in situ in the dyebath by the reduction of a cupric compound, the reducing agent employed is a ferrous compound, e.g. ferrous sulphate or ferrous ammonium sulphate. Other additions to the bath are polyphosphates which with the residual iron compound forms a soluble iron complex, and a powdered sulphite cellulose waste liquor product. Examples are given.
