Abstract
761,503. Cooking-appliances. BRAUN, R., BRAUN, O., and KEMMLER, J. [trading as BRAUN & KEMMLER]. Aug. 18, 1954 [Aug. 29, 1953], No. 24025/54. Class 66. A frying pan, which may also be used for toasting or steaming, comprises in one form, Fig. 1, a grid plate 5 of wire mesh formed with a handgrip 6 and an upwardly-directed loop 7 which engages under a nose-piece 8 welded to the side wall of the pan opposite the handle 2, the nose-piece acting as a fulcrum when the plate is used as a lever to press down food, e.g. meat, to be fried against the base of the pan. The handle 2 may be fitted with a pivoted wire loop which may be engaged over the grip 6 to hold the plate in position and the loop 7 may be bent upwardly and downwardly so as to pass over the edge of the pan and engage under a nose piece welded to the outside of the side wall, see Fig. 6 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 4, the plate is formed or provided with a cranked pin or pins 17 which engage in a hole or holes 18 in the side of the pan. If the pan is to be used as a steamer, it is provided with a domed cover and slots are formed in the side wall adjacent the handle 2 for the reception of the hand grip 6, see Fig. 3 (not shown), the food being supported by the grid plate.
