Abstract
A draining bridge has a wire frame 10 the side members of which are mounted at right angles by spars 18. The draining bridge is placed across the top of a deep fat frying pan and located on its upper perimeter rim by means of the location sections 14. The food basket is placed upon the spars 18 allowing the cooking medium to drain from the food into the pan. The front cross member 20 being spaced from the location sections of the side members affords the draining bridge to be used with pans of various sizes and shapes. <IMAGE>
Description
DRAINING BRIDGE FOR USE WIT;I DEEP FAT FIIYING PANS
This invention relates to a draining bridge for use with deep fat frying pans.
Deep fat frying pans alLow food to be cooked whilst totally inmersed in a cooking medium, fat or oil for instance. During cooking the food is contained in a wire basket which is removeable from the pan. After cooking the cooking medium is required to be drained from the food.
On non electric deep fat frying pans no provision is made for resting the food basket over the pan whilst the cooking medium drains from the food, it is normal practise for the cook to either hold the basket over the pan or to stand the food basket in a vessel whilst the cooking medium drains from the food.
It is an aim of the present invention to provide a draining bridge for use with deep fat frying pans to avoid the aforementioned problems.
According to the present invention there is provided a draining bridge for use wit deep fat frying pans comprising a wire frame wherein there is provided two side members for mounting the draining bridge on a deep fat frying pan, means for locating the draining bridge on said pan, means for supporting a food basket and means for adapting the draining bridge for use with pans of various sizes and shapes.
In a prefered form of the invention the means for locating the draining bridge on the upper perimeter rim of a deep fat frying pan is contained in the forward section of the side members wherein the said side members are forned to provide protrusions which loosely abut the inside and outside of the upper perimeter of a pan when the draining bridge is positioned for use. leans is preferably provided for supporting a food basket by way of three spars which lie at right angles to the londitudinal direction of the side members, said spars being positioned with their ends on the top of the side members and are secured in position by way of spot welding. Yearns is preferably provided for adapting the draining bridge for use with pans of various sizes and shapes by way of the front cross member which being continuous from the side members and lying at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the said side members is spaced from the location sections of the side members whereby to give clearance for pans of various sizes and shapes.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which
Figure 1 shows in perspective the draining bridge in position on a deep fat frying pan.
Referring to the drawing the draining bridge comprises a wire frame 10 and a handle 12. In order to use the-draining bridge with a deep fat frying pan, the frame 10 is lifted using the handle 12 and placed across the top of the said pan and located on its upper perimeter rim by means of location sections 14, the rear section of the frame 10 is the rested on the opposite area of the upper perimeter of the pan, the food basket (not shown) is then placed upon the spars 18 allowing the cooing medium to drain from the food into the pan. Front cross member 20 gives clearance for pans of various sizes and shapes.
In order to facilitate production thereof, the draining bridge may be constructed in a manner which differs in some details from the illustrated embodiment, without thereby exceeding the scope of the appended claims. Thus for example, instead of being a seperate item, the handle could be incorporated in the wire frame, being continuous of the rear cross members, consequently instead of being one piece, the front cross member could be two members each continuous of the side members and being overlapped at their ends and being fastened together by way of spot welding.
Claims (5)
1. A draining bridge for use with deep fat frying pans comprising a wire frame wherein there is provided two side members for mounting the draining bridge on a deep fat frying pan, means for locating the draining bridge on the said pan, means for supporting a food basket and means for adapting the draining bridge for use with pans of various sizes and shapes.
2. A draining bridge as claimed in claim 1 wherein location means is provided by way of the form of the forward section of the side members.
3. A draining bridge as claimed in claim I wherein support means for a food basket is provided on the frame by way of three spars.
4. A draining bridge as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the means for adapting the draining bridge for use with pans of various sizes and shapes is by way of the front cross member being spaced from the location sections of the side members.
5. A draining bridge for use with deep fat frying pans substantially as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawing.
