761,412. Photographic . gelatin silver halide emulsions. KODAK, Ltd. July 14, 1954 [July 17, 1953], No. 20604/54. Class 98(2) 0.0055 to 0.5 per cent of oleoyl-, myristoyl-, ricinoleoyl-, stearyoyl-, palmitoyl- or lauroyl-methyl taurine-, or myristoyl butyl taurine-water soluble salt, or of similar taurine derivatives indicated by a structural formula, which may be prepared by the method of Specification 386,966 [Group IV], is included in the emulsions to facilitate coating thereof as on film or paper with avoidance of repellency spots or bubbles. Dyes and similar addenda may be present in the emulsions, and these are suitable for deep coating technique wherein the emulsion is applied in greater amount than desired in the finished coat and leveled off and reduced in thickness by an air brush or doctor blade, and for wet on wet coating wherein a set but not dried underlayer is overcoated. The sodium salts of the taurine derivatives are specified in eleven specific examples.
