1450595 Photographic silver halide materials FILMFABRIK WOLFEN VEB 5 Nov 1973 [3 Nov 1972] 51171/73 Heading G2C Photographic silver halide materials contain in the emulsion layer or in an auxiliary layer a filter dye of the Formula:- wherein Z is either absent or represents a fused-on aromatic carbocyclic or aromatic heterocyclic ring, B is a hydroxynaphth-2-yl, aminonaphth-2-yl or aminohydroxy-naphth-2-yl radical which may carry further substituents or a radical of the Formula:- R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl of up to 4C or a group of one of the Formulae -SO 2 NHR<SP>4</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl of up to 4C, carboxy, carboxylate salt, sulpho, sulphonate salt, -COOR<SP>4</SP> or -OR<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen, alkyl of up to 4C, carboxy, carboxylate salt, carbamoyl, -COOR<SP>4</SP> or -CONHR<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>4</SP> is an alkyl of up to 4C or aryl group which may be substituted, R<SP>5</SP> is hydrogen, halogen alkyl of up to 4C or -OR<SP>4</SP>, and R<SP>6</SP> is hydrogen, halogen, carboxy, carboxylate salt, sulpho, sulphonate salt, -COOR<SP>4</SP> or -SO 2 NHR<SP>4</SP>, provided that the dye contains (i) one sulpho, sulphonate salt, carboxy or carboxylate salt group, and (ii) at least one mono-substituted sulphonamide group. The dyes are easily removed by photographic processing baths.
