Abstract

1,128,113. Photographic silver halide materials EASTMAN KODAK CO. June 28, 1967 [July 22, 1966], No.29713/67. Heading G2C. [Also in Division C4] Photographic material comprises a support carrying at least one silver halide emulsion layer and at least one layer containing a dye of the formula: wherein n is 0 or 1; m is 1 or 2; R is H, alkyl aryl or aralkyl; R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl or aryl; R<SP>2</SP> is alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group attached through a nuclear C-atom; and Z is the non-metallic atoms to complete a 5- or 6- membered heterocyclic ring. The dyes, which act as sensitizers and as U.V. filters, may be included in the emulsion layer or in a separate layer. The dye may be present in the emulsion as 5-100mg./1. of flowable emulsion, and may be added to the emulsion as a soln. in an inert solvent, or by bathing the material in a soln. of the dye. The usual binders, supports, and additives may be used, and the material may also contain a developer.
