[Also in Group XXXII] Relates to means for supporting the body or load carrying structure of trucks, trailers and the like on the axles of the road wheels. According to the invention, each rear axle 1 is provided with at least one supporting member 4 arranged above and rigidly secured to the axle, the upper surface of this member being obtusely dihedral, with the intersection of its surfaces disposed at a right angle to the axis of the axle 1, and a box a is secured to the spring suspension or other supporting arrangement for the vehicle body having an upper internal surface 6 which is also dihedral corresponding to the upper surface of the supporting member 4, the displacement of the axle relative to the vehicle body when the vehicle is moving along a curved path being guided by projections 10 on the axle 1 engaging with the front and rear walls 11 of the box a. As shown, the axle 1 is provided with a pair of box members a, a<SP>1</SP> joined together by a part 15 and provided with covers 13, 13<SP>1</SP>. Axial displacement of the axle is limited by engagement of the projection 10 or 10<SP>1</SP> with a corresponding stop 12 or 12<SP>1</SP> on the box members a and a<SP>1</SP> respectively. The boxes pertaining to each axle are angularly disposed in opposite senses in a plane parallel to the axis of. the axle, permitting a steering movement of the axle when rounding a curve. The engaging surfaces of the supporting members 4, 4<SP>1</SP> and boxes a, a<SP>1</SP> are lubricated automatically during axle displacement by means of ducts 23 in the box which communicate with a reservoir 20 and with the engaging surfaces. The invention is applicable to vehicles having dual axles, Figs. 8-10 (not shown).
