Abstract
The invention comprises diazo compounds of amines of formula: <FORM:0759045/IV(a)/1> where R1 is an alkyl group of 1-3 carbon atoms and R2 is H or Me in 31, 51 or 61 position. in examples the following diazo compounds are prepared from the appropriate amine by conventional methods: (1) 2,5-dimethoxy-4-(21-methylphenylthio) - benzene diazonium zincichloride; (2) 2,5-diethoxy-4-(21-methylphenylthio)-benzene diazonium sulphate; (3) 2,5-dimethoxy - 4 - (21,51 - dimethylphenylthio)-benzene diazonium zincichloride; (4) 2,5-dimethoxy - 4 - (21,61 - dimethylphenylthio)-benzene diazonium sulphate; and (5) 2,5-diethoxy - 4 - (21,61-dimethylphenylthio)-benzene diazonium sulphate. The products are used in diazotype printing processes, cf. Group XX. The starting amines are made by reducing the corresponding nitro compound obtained by condensation of appropriate 2,5-dialkoxy-4-chloro-1-nitrobenzenes and potassium or sodium salts of 2 thio-cresols.
