Abstract
758,565. Panels; walls and partitions. CAWOOD WHARTON & CO., Ltd. April 25, 1955 [May 3, 1954], No. 12786/54. Classes 20(4) and 87(1). A corner joint between two outer wall panels 10 each having an outer covering sheet 11 and at either side a stanchion such as 12, includes two larger stanchions 14, which with the adjoining panel stanchions 12, are provided with bevelled mating faces 13 and a number of recessed holes for bolts 17 which screw into a number of superposed connectors 15 arranged between the stanchions. The connectors 15, are made of thin gauge metal and have nuts 16 welded to their internal faces to accommodate the threads of the bolts 17, washers 18 being provided at the bottoms of the recesses 20 for the bolt heads and masking caps 19 being fitted to the recesses 20 in the larger stanchions 14. Opposed vertically extending V-grooves, 21 are formed in the mating faces 13 to accommodate strips of moisture excluding material 22, made e.g. of mastic. In the case of a joint between two outer wall panels arranged in the same plane and an internal partition normal to them, only one large stanchion 14, placed opposite the stanchion of the internal panel, is employed. The connectors 15 may be made of solid metal formed with threaded holes to receive the bolts 17, and the uppermost connector may carry an upwardly projecting threaded rod for attachment, by means of a nut, to a beam disposed above the joint. After the joints have been made the inner panel lining 24, made e.g. of plaster board, is fixed into position.
