758,441. Endless conveyers. KING, D. M. Dec. 15, 1953 [Dec. 30, 1952], No. 33010/52. Class 78 (1). In a conveyer system comprising load carriers of S-shape adapted to be supported by their upper limbs on one endless driven chain and by their intermediate limbs on another endless driven chain, the two chains at one or more points along the conveyer path are arranged to travel in vertically spaced relationship and means is provided for effecting relative vertical movement of the paths of the chains at these points to effect transfer of the load carriers from one chain to the other. As shown, S-shaped carrier 14 is being carried by rollers on its middle limb 16 resting on chain 10 running in track 11, rollers on its lower limb 17 engaging in a guide track 20 forming part of the track 11 to steady it. Transfer to a second chain 12 is effected by leading the track 13 of the second chain in under the upper limb 15 of the carrier and then upwardly so that rollers on limb 15 now rest on chain 12 while rollers on the top side of limb 16 engage in a guide track 19 forming part of track 13 to steady the carrier whereupon track 13 is led outwardly away from the track 11 with the carrier 14 supported on chain 12 and free of chain 11. Apertures are provided in the guide tracks 19 and 20 to enable the rollers on the top sides of limbs 16 and 17 respectively to enter and leave the respective tracks. Carrier 14 is preferably constructed as described in Specification 719,888. Specification 701,610 also is referred to.
