Abstract

<PICT:0757921/IV(c)/1> <PICT:0757921/IV(c)/2> In a finishing machine for the washing of textile fabrics the fabric is arranged in an endless band T and passes first through a hollow cylinder, wherein it is condensed walls of the cylinders, and then, on emerging from the cylinder between pressing rollers 2, 3, the fabric leaving the rollers being returned to pass through the hollow cylinder via a bath of washing liquid. The apparatus shown comprises three hollow cylinders formed in a single casing mounted in a rack 12, liquid connection being made to the cylinders through the pipes 18 (of which only one is shown in the drawing) stop cocks 19 and a main feed pipe 20. The feed pipe 20 may be connected alternatively to a cold-water or a hot-water supply or to a supply of a liquid containing washing ingredients. The liquid expressed from the fabric by the rollers 2, 3 is collected in a wooden receptacle 14 having a discharge outlet whereby the liquid may be discharged to a drain. The fabric in passing from the rollers 2, 3 back to the hollow cylinders passes through liquid contained in the bottom of the external vat 1. An aperture 29 at the bottom of the vat is connected to a jointed pipe 30, Fig. 3, which may be so positioned by means of the rod and chain mechanism 31, 32 that the liquid discharged from the receptacle 14 through the conduit 27 connected to the outlet 26 is transferred to the bottom of the vat 1.
