Abstract
782,145. Washing machines. SULZMANN, E. Sept. 7, 1955, No. 25669/55. Class 138 (2). A washing machine in which washing or rinsing liquid is arranged to flow continuously through a treatment chamber comprises a drum 28 having a front loading opening 29 and a perforated wall 19 separating the treatment chamber from an outlet chamber 21, the liquid being arranged to overflow into the treatment chamber through the opening 29. The liquid is removed from the chamber 21 as the drum 28 rotates, by means of one or more radial fins 21a, a tube 24 and a funnel 25. Liquid is supplied to the outer drum 27 through a tube 30 which may be provided with flow-regulating means. The drum 28 is preferably imperforate but a few openings may be provided in the front or side walls. Perforations 22 are provided in parts only of the wall 19. The chamber 21 may be provided with extraction buckets for removing the liquid. Fig. 3 (not shown) illustrates a modification in which the suction tube of a pump extends into the chamber 21, and in this case the whole of the separating wall may be perforated. A steam heating pipe 34 may be provided in the outer drum 27. Specification 770,468 is referred to.
