Abstract

757,714. Multiple fastenings. GORDON METAL FABRICATIONS, Ltd., WOOLSTON, E. C., and BRETT, R. C. June 17, 1954 [June 18, 1953], No. 16819/53. Class 44. A filing cabinet comprises a plurality of superposed drawers, an upright locking bar 5, common to the drawers and extending across the backs thereof, and a catch 17 carried by the back of each drawer to engage the bar to prevent inadvertent opening of the drawer, each catch being spring-urged to locking position and the bar being adjustable from a position in which the catches are engageable therewith to a position in which they are incapable of engaging the bar. As shown, a channel-section locking bar 5 positioned close to a rear corner of a cabinet and connected by a locking rod 8 with a lock at the front of the cabinet, is provided with slots 15 which are formed by stamped-out portions defining striker plates 16. Each striker co-operates with the catch 17 which comprises a clip 19, loaded by a spring 25 and arranged for limited sliding movement between guides 21 stamped out from the back of each drawer.
