Abstract

1279618 Securing articles of furniture together in rows GODFREY-SYRETT Ltd 5 Dec 1969 [6 Dec 1968] 58103/68 Heading A4U Chairs are secured together in a row by the retention of headed studs 8, projecting from a mounting plate 4, in open-ended slots 12 in a mounting plate 2. Parallel rods 6 brazed or welded to the rear of each mounting plate may be slidable in plastics-bushed sleeves 16, fixed to a steel chair frame 14 or brazed or welded in an aperture drilled therein, so that variation in the spacing of the chairs is possible and, when not in use, the plates are retractable flush with the frame. In modifications only one of the plates is retractable, each stud slot has an individual mounting plate, or, when required for nesting of the chairs, the lower edge of the mounting plate is bent outwardly to clear the seat of the chair next below. In further modifications the slots are directed or open downwardly, or are curved or angled to prevent inadvertent disengagement. The invention is applicable to tables or to wooden or plastics furniture.
