Abstract

757,673. Forced flow and vertical steam boilers; tubular heat exchange elements.- NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP BRONSWERK. Sept. 24, 1954 [Dec. 7, 1953], No. 27604/54. Classes 64(3) and 123(2). Relates to heat exchangers comprising a bank of double coiled tubes 6 stacked within a cylindrical shell 4, the tube ends communicating with headers 7, 8. According to the invention the two oppositely wound coils of each tube are axially spaced by diametrally extending strips 9, 10 rigidly secured thereto, each tube unit thus formed being removably supported by plates 5 secured to the interior of the casing. The units are accessible for removal, when necessary, through a detachable section of the casing. Preferably, blocks 11 are secured to the strips 9, 10 of each tube as shown in Fig. 3 and are reduced on assembly so that each tube unit is a slide fit at its circumference between adjacent plates 5. The invention is said to be applicable to steam generators of the forced recirculation type, the headers 7, 8 communicating respectively through the circulating pump with the steam and water spaces of the boiler drum, and hot gases from a Diesel engine being passed over the tubes.
