757,617. Screwing-up screws. AUSTIN, F. B. Nov. 8, 1954 [Nov. 11, 1953], No. 31285/53. Class 83 (3). A screw-feeding unit for a screwdriver comprises a tubular body 7 attachable to the screwdriver 1 so that the bit 5 may be advanced through the body against spring means 9 to push a screw from a rotatable magazine 14 into a screw-holding means 29 which positions the screw while it is entering the work. Screws are initially loaded into the magazine 14 which is then secured to the body 7 by a pin 15. The screw-positioning and holding means consists of the blades 29 secured to leaf-springs 30. A self-lubricating bearing-bush 36 guides the bit 5 of the pneumatic or electric screw-driver 1. The hand-rotated magazine 14 may be modified for automatic indexing movement.
