Abstract

757,399. Shaft couplings. LAMUDE, L. E. Oct. 4, 1954 [Oct. 2, 1953], No. 27021/53. Class 80(2). A shaft adaptor, for fitting on the end of a tractor &c. power take-off shaft which is to be coupled to a shaft of a different diameter, comprises a sleeve 1 internally splined at one end to receive the end of the power take-off shaft and externally splined at the other, the sleeve having a bore 6 at the externally splined end for a headed screw engaging a hole tapped in the end of the power take-off shaft. The internally splined end of the sleeve is formed as a collar 2 in which are tapped holes 5 for grub screws engaging a groove in the power take-off shaft. One of the external splines is recessed at 7 to receive a pinch bolt &c., by which the coupled shaft is retained in position.
