Abstract

In the continuous production of polyamides delustring of the product is obtained by adding to the starting material about 0.3 per cent by weight, calculated as TiO2, of titanium hydroxide gel. The polymerization is conducted in the presence of a catalyst. In an example, caprolactam is polymerized in the presence of hexamethylenediammonium adipate using 0.3 per cent of titanium hydroxide gel as delustring agent. The results are compared with those obtained using the dioxide as delustring agent. The invention is stated to be applicable also to the production of polyamides from aminoacids and dicarboxylic acids and diamines and their amide forming derivatives.
