Abstract

756,922. Foundations and sub-floor constructions for buildings. SOMMERFELD, K. J. SMITH, C. A. V.,. and MOCKRIDGE, J. P, March 13, 1952 [March 16, 1951], No. 6430/51. Class 20(2). A sub-floor framework of joists 16, 20 is supported on members 12 comprising tubular open-ended conical frusta of expanded metal or perforated sheet metal which are invested in the ground and filled with concrete, the joists 16 being levelled by means of screws 17 in their flanges. U-bolts 13 embedded in the concrete and short angle-sections 18 secure the joists 16 on the members 12 which have ant caps of plate or annular form arranged either with downwardly projecting lips or with gutters to contain water or paraffin. One-of the joists 20 may have a built-in spirit level 21.
