(Also in Group X] Means for erecting building units for the construction of prefabricated buildings comprises metal plates 1 which are bent inwardly at their sides 2 to form slots 3 and screwed at desired intervals along the edges of the building units, interlocking spacing members, such as 7, Fig. 4, being provided with tongues 6 for entering horizontally corresponding slots along the adjacent edges of the building units to hold the latter at the desired predetermined spacing. Alternatively, the plates 1 may be replaced by channel section members each of which is fixed by screws passing through holes in flanges extending outwardly along the opposite edges of the channel with the open sides of the channels opposing the edge of the respective building unit to provide slots extending in the longitudinal direction. The spacing member 7, Fig. 4, is used to connect two building units in line with one another, the tongues on the spacing members used to connect two units disposed at right angles to each other being correspondingly arranged. Spacing members having three, or four, appropriately arranged tongues are employed respectively to connect one unit to two others arranged in line, and to connect two pairs of units disposed at right angles to each other. At the junction of four walls, where the adjacent edges of the units form a closed gap, the spacing members are inserted into the gap from the top by means of an assembly tool which may consist of a bar having a hooked end to engage in holes 10 in the spacing members.
