Abstract

755,038. Ventilators. MARSHALL, K. C. T., and LIGHTALLOYS, Ltd. April 14, 1955 [April 14, 1954], No. 11041 /54. Class 137. A louvred ventilator comprises a frame made of extruded alloy or plastic and formed of U-section stiles 1, 2, an H-section intermediate bar 5, and upper and lower bars 3, 4 ; and transverse slats 15 which are held in overlapping spaced relation by engagement of their end tongues 16 between double wedge-shaped metal, or rubber blocks 17 which are inserted, to form a column, within each channel of the stiles 1, 2, and the bar 5. The top and bottom bars 3, 4, are made of solid metal, and each has a projecting edge strip 9 along one face and a wedge portion 10, the end and centre parts of the bar being partly cut away for engagement within the corresponding ends of the channels of the stiles 1, 2 and the bar 5, the latter having either end of its dividing web cut away for a short distance to allow for entry of the centre cut away part of the respective bar. The bars 3, 4, grooved at 11, 13 to engage with lips 6, 14 in the stiles 1, 2 and the bar 5 respectively, are screwed to the ends of the stiles 1, 2 with their parts 10 forming the wedges above and below the upper and lowermost blocks 17. The edges of the frame may be contoured to facilitate securement to a structure.
