Abstract

A glazing bar A or astrogal of extruded inverted-T section comprises a sill 12 on each side of an inverted channel section 8 an edge of each sill extending over the mouth of the channel to form a T-section groove, a planar web 10 extending along the centre line of the channel base and terminating in an enlarged head 14, and two wing parts 6 extending from the base of the channel on opposite sides of the web each terminating in a head 16 having a planar surface parallel to the plane of the sills and two ribs 7 one on either side of the web and below the height of the heads 16 of the channel, whereby a strip 9 may be arranged between a rib and its adjacent wing 6 to support a pane 11 at a level different from that of the pane on the opposite side of the web. The panes are held by cover strips 22 secured by clips to the head 14. The bar may be strengthened by an elongate member B, Fig. 2 having a crossbar 1 which slides into the channel 8.
