Abstract
755,298. Two-stroke engines; charging and fuel-injection pumps. OSPELT, G. July 30, 1954 [Aug. 8, 1953], No. 22284/54. Classes 7(2) and 7(3) A Root's blower 5 axially mounted on a scavenge air receiver 3 between the cylinder banks 1, 2 of a two-stroke V-engine is arranged asymmetrically with respect to the longitudinal centre plane of the engine, that gear 11 of its intermeshing pair 10, 11 closer to this plane being driven from a crankshaft gear 12 via a single idler 13, and a fuel injection pump 22 being arranged between the banks 1, 2 on the same side of the blower 5 as the gear 11, with which a pump driving gear 27 preferably meshes. The blower 5 draws air through a filter 6 and delivers directly into the receiver 3. A dynamo 31 is crankshaft-driven via V- belts 30, 30<SP>1</SP>. Exhaust manifolds 32, an oil tilter and cooler 33 and a starter 34 are externally attached to the engine casing. In an engine running in the opposite direction to that shown, the blower 5 would be displaced to the right with the pump 22 on its left side and the idler 13 on the left of the longitudinal centre plane of the engine and meshing the gear 10. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 714,236.
