Abstract

753,984. Dry plate rectifier assemblies. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd., and LOCKETT, L. J. Dec. 17, 1954 [Jan. 13, 1954], No. 981/54. Class 37. A rectifier assembly comprises a helical compression spring having one portion engaging the inner surface of an enclosing insulating tube and a portion of smaller diameter extending towards the rectifier element. In the Figure a steel ball 1, a rectifier element 2 and a copper spacer 3 are retained between phosphor-bronze conical helix springs 4, 5 within an insulating tube 6. Connecting wires 7, 8 extend from the springs 4, 5 and the tube 6 may be filled with a plastic potting compound. The tube 6 may be of ceramic material and comprise longitudinal ribs so that the potting compound flows in the space between the ribs.
