Abstract

753,574. Hatching-appliances. STEPHENS, B. F. July 7,1954 [July 7, 1953], No. 18817/53. Class 5 (2). Spaced hatching units 31 are mounted one above another in an incubator casing 21. Each unit comprises a casing and an egg-receiving tray slidable into and out of it. Warm air is passed through each hatching unit and out of its casing through a cavity common to all the units. The units are supported by uprights 34. Each has a hinged flap 39 at one end, air inlets 40 in the flap, and rubber air-outlet tubes 37 connected through openings 38 to an air outlet header 41. Fresh air entering the casing through inlets 23 passes over a metal partition 26 warmed by air already in the incubator. The partition 26 is spaced from an outer wall 22 by staggered baffles 27. A fan 29 draws the warmed air through a central hole 28 in the partition. A thermostatically-controlled electric heater 24, and a tray of water to humidify the air, may be provided.
