Abstract

753,367. Screw-heads. FAUL, T. L. Feb. 22, 1954 [Feb. 25, 1953], No. 5151/54. Class 89 (2). [Also in Group XXIII] A driving recess in a screw head comprises a bottom wall 10, Fig. 3, three tool-engageable walls 8, Fig. 1, and three non-tool-engageable walls 9 in alternate relation to the walls 8 which are inclined at an angle of from 2 to 5 degrees outwardly from the bottom wall 10. The line of merger between walls 9, 10 is nearer the mouth of the recess than that between walls 8, 10. Wall 10 is conical and the apex lies within the head, and walls 9 may be curved or straight. The driver 4, Fig. 5, has a shank 6 having side walls 11 for engaging walls 8, and walls 12 which are spaced from walls 9. The shank is longer than the depth of the recess and is so arranged as to leave a clearance 15 between its end and wall 10 when engaged in the recess.
