Abstract

715,163. Screwdrivers. RESEARCH ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING, Inc. May 6, 1952, No. 11386/52. Class 61 A screwdriver bit for recessed head screws, has alternate ribs 2 and flutes on a conical end portion 10 each rib having one flat driving face 5 parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bit, the opposite face 6 having a slanting face 7 which co-operates with a correspondingly bevelled face of the socket to wedge the bit. The wedge face 7 extends from the apex 10 upwardly a substantial distance of the face 6, the operative end of the bit extending from the apex 10 to the line A-A. In a modification the wedging faces extend the full length of the ribs and in another modification they extend the full length of the flutes.
