Abstract

544,751. Spanner &c. handles. PENNANT MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and GREW, C. Dec. 10, 1940, No. 17515. [Classes 61 (i) and 61 (iii)] The tommy bar 12 of a wrench, screwdriver, auger &c. 10 is slidable through the head 11 and may be folded down parallel with the stem of the tool about end trunnions 13 adapted to engage grooves 16 extending partway through the head. In the modification, Fig. 4, the tommy bar 21 is hinged at 23 to a plug 22. To prevent removal the tommy bar is formed with a flattened screwdriver end 14. In another construction, Fig 5, the tommy bar 26 is of tubular construction and slides on a transverse portion 25, at the upper end of the tool stem 10 and has a short hinged portion 29 at one end.
