Abstract
353,322. Screwdrivers ; handles. ROBERTSON, P. L., Milton, Ontario, Canada. Sept. 27,1930, No. 29006. [Classes 61 (i) and 61. (iii).] A screwdriver consists of a soft steel shank 1 which is cylindrically bored at the end 2 to receive the bit 3 which is of tool steel of square or ridged section and is forced into the hole 2 so that the corners of the bit embed themselves in the soft metal of the shank to retain the bit in position. The end 5 of the bit is shaped according to the form of screw to be turned. In a modification, Fig. 6, the shank may consist of two arms 6, 7 provided with bits 3 of different sizes. In another modification, Fig. 7, a triangular piece of metal is bored to receive three bits of different pattern. The bits may be cut from a length of stock tool steel.
