739,231. Wedges; wood-screws. INTERESSEMTSKAPET SKAFTKILEN. Dec. 30, 1953, No. 36196/53. Class 89(2). [Also in Group XXIII] A split wedge 1, 1<SP>1</SP> for holding a tool head on a handle is retained in the handle by a screw having a neck 5 engaged by the wedge halves, a tapered threaded part 4 having opposed plane surfaces 6 and a substantially oblong-shaped head 7. The screw and wedge halves are driven into the handle with the head 7 lying across the halves, i.e. turned 90 degrees from the position shown. When fully home, the head is turned so that it lies along the split between the wedge halves and the threads are forced into the walls of the slot made by the wedge, to hold the wedge in the handle.
