Abstract

752,466. Treating yarns. ADSHEAD & GEESON, Ltd., and GEESON, T. Nov. 30, 1954 [Feb. 25, 1954], No. 5518/54. Addition to 683,075. Class 120 (3). Yarns made from staple fibre or continuous filament of cellulose acetate, or mixtures thereof with other synthetic or natural fibres, is stabilized and set by passing it continuously or intermittently through steam, which may be superheated, then through hot dry air to remove moisture therefrom, and then over and in contact with a surface heated to a temperature of 285‹ F. or higher, but below the plasticising point of cellulose acetate, whereby the yarn shrinks a predetermined amount and is stabilized in such condition. The treatment may be effected on apparatus as described in the parent Specification modified as described in Specification 692,637. Specification 722,461, [Group VIII], also is referred to.
