Abstract

752,141. Liquid fuel containers. AKTIEBOLAGET B. A. HJORTH & CO. May 19, 1954 [May 19, 1953], No. 14760/54. Class 75(1). [Also in Group. XXIX] A container for a readily vaporizable combustible liquid having a valve controlled burner nozzle 3 is fitted with a combined safety and air relief valve comprising an outer sleeve 5 fixed to the container, an inner sleeve 8 screwthreaded into the outer sleeve, a spring-loaded closure member 12 co-operating with a seat 11 in the inner sleeve 8 and constituting the safety valve and co-operating surfaces 6, 9 between the two sleeves 5 and 8 to form a closure when the sleeve 8 is screwed home into the sleeve 5. The projection of the sleeve 5 into the interior of the container prevents overfilling of the container since, with the sleeve 8 unscrewed to vent the container, liquid upon reaching the level of the lower end of the sleeve 5 escapes through the open valve. The filling of the container may be accomplished through the nozzle 3. It is stated that the combined safety and relief valve may be fitted in the bottom of the container.
