An idler for a conveyer belt of the kind pro. vided with a transverse supporting frame pivoted on a base plate and which, in the event of the belt conveying run being displaced laterally, is turned about its pivot to restore the belt to its central position, comprises a troughing roller 47 supported by member 43' on brackets 41 secured to the ends of a channel member 31 which is mounted so as to pivot about a stud 37 fixed to a base plate 18. The return run 13 of the belt is supported by members 20 which are secured to the plate 18 and provided at their ends with posts 23 carrying brackets 24. Each of these brackets is slotted at 25 to receive a T- head 26 on an element 27 which maintains adjacent plates 18 properly spaced and connected. Members 29 on the plate 18 prevent excessive tilting of the member 31 in the event of a heavy off-centre load being carried by the belt run 12, whilst the swivelling movement of the member 31 is limited by engagement with the members 20. When the belt wanders from its central position, it engages the surface 54 on a shoe 53 secured to a member 43 so as to rotate the member 31 about the stud 37 and effect return of the belt to its central position.
