Abstract

751,448. Treating liquids with gases. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP DE BATAAFSCHE PETROLEUM MAATSCHAPPIJ. Aug. 16, 1954 [Aug. 18, 1953], No. 23761/54. Class 55(2). Means for fastening bubble caps in position on the trays of scrubbing &c. towers comprise a .bolt 6 and a resilient supporting structure 7 secured to it, the device being inserted in and removed from the tray opening from a position above the tray ; on insertion it is held by the pressure of the resilient structure which has to be deformed to fit into the opening. The cap 1 is supported on spacers 2 of a riser 3 and secured to the bolt by means of nuts 8 and a washer 9. In the form shown structure 7 has four resilient arms with a rounded shoulder at an intermediate point along the upper edge so that when the bolt is inserted slantwise and pulled vertically upwards the edge of the opening slides over the shoulders and bends the arms inwardly. In modifications the resilient structure has two and three curved arms ; in one form each of two opposed arms consists of a complete loop. In all embodiments at least two arms have a projection engaging the underside of the tray.
