Abstract

750,956. Electrostatic precipitation. RESEARCH CORPORATION. Feb. 8, 1954 [March 10, 1953], No. 3606/54. Class 39 (1). [Also in Group XXXV] In an electrostatic precipitator having spaced complementary collector and discharge electrodes, the full voltage of the supply is applied alternately in successive half-cycles to different groups of discharge electrodes. Discharge electrodes in alternate ducts between spaced parallel collector plates may form the two groups, or there may be two separate groups of complementary collector and discharge electrodes. Alternate discharge electrodes 34 and 32 are connected to opposite output terminals 8 and 10 of the transformer 2, and these terminals are also connected to the alternately arranged stator shoes 12, 14 and 16, 18 of a rotary rectifier. The rotor arm 20 of the rectifier is connected to the collector electrodes 26 and to earth, and is driven in synchronism with the source of supply by the motor 22. The rotor arm 20 has a counterweight 24, but may be extended to form two rotor arms.
