Abstract

750,838. Speedometers. SOC. PER AZIONI FRATELLI BORLETTI. Feb. 15, 1954 [Oct. 17, 1953], No. 4440/54. Class 106(3). In an eddy-current speedometer the magnet is adjustable towards and away from the drag member to allow for calibration. In one example, Fig. 1, the magnet 5 is supported on a pivot 4 mounted in a sleeve 3 in a bore 1 of the body 2. The sleeve 3 has a circular groove 15 which receives an eccentric extension 14 of a member 13 rotation of which therefore effects axial movement of the sleeve 3 to determine the air gap between the magnet 5 and the drag disc 7. An adjustable screw fixes the sleeve 3 in the selected position. In another example, not shown, the sleeve 3 has a helical groove engaged by the inner end of a screw adjustable in the body 2. In a third example, not shown, a pin screwed to the sleeve extends through an inclined slot in the body 2.
