Abstract

750,486. Shelters. SMITH & CO. (LONDON), Ltd., J., and SMITH, D. J. M. July 29, 1954 [Nov. 9, 1953], No. 30915/53. Divided out of 749,847. Class 20(1). A shelter which may be used in executing repairs to aircraft engines in adverse weather conditions has a framework comprising two inverted L-shaped members 14, 15, the lower ends of the vertical limbs 15 being secured to horizontal braced beam members 16 mounted on rollers or wheels 20. Cross bars 17 secure the upper surfaces of the two horizontal limbs 14 together and the members 16 are joined at their rear ends by a braced structure 19. In a modification, Fig. 8, the horizontal limbs have inclined portions 21, 21<SP>1</SP> and the rear sides of the vertical limbs 22 are inclined forwardly. Horizontal members 25 may be braced together by more than two transverse members 26, 27. The frameworks are preferably covered with canvas fitted with side and rear windows of plastic e.g. celluloid, and the front end of the shelter may be closed by a curtain which is shaped to fit around the aircraft engine cover.
