Abstract
725,939. Dams and the like. MONNET, P. Jan. 21, 1953 [Jan. 22, 1952; Dec. 18, 1952], No. 1763/53. Class 68(2). Dams, retaining walls and the like are formed by aligning apertured elements and connecting them by at least one cable. The elements may be frames 1 shaped as tetrahedrons and having internal reinforcements 2 which may carry eyes 3 through which a cable may pass. Alternatively the cable may pass through the apex opposite the horizontal face. The tetrahedra may be arranged along an unbroken front or, as in Fig. 7, in alternatively opposite directions to present a broken front. The elements may support nets or the like to assist in the retention of materials carried by the stream, &c. The tetrahedra may rest on moored mats 12, Fig. 12, and, as in Fig. 17, the mats themselves may be shaped to approximately tetrahedron form.
