Abstract

750,382. Bumpers for vehicles. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. April 23, 1954 [April 24, 1953], No. 11828/54. Class 103 (2). A composite bumper device for vehicles comprises a shock-absorber bar, a protection shell therefor, and over-riders fitted with attachment means by the aid of which the bar, shell and over-riders are simultaneously attachable to the mounting means on the vehicle. Fig. 3 shows the composite bumper disassembled. The bumper is secured to the vehicle by means of two holders 2, which together with a shockabsorbing bar 3 and a U-section shield in three parts are formed with elongated slots to receive bolts 4 screwing into nuts in over-riders 6. In a modification the bolts 4 are each replaced by two studs secured to the over-riders and projetting to straddle grooved lugs on the outer portions of the shield and to straddle also the shock-absorbing bar, the studs passing through holes in the holders and being secured by nuts.
