A resilient mounting for a vehicle engine comprises two rubber dish-shaped annuli 2, each vulcanized between a metal cone 3 and a casing 1 and each having a ring-shaped shoulder 5 which can abut an annular abutment disc 4, to limit deflection of the rubber annuli. The casings 1 are bolted together and the thickness of the disc 4 determines the amount by which the rubber annuli are pre-stressed for shearing, in the event of deflection in the direction of the axis of a bolt 7, and for compression, in the event of deflection at right angles to the axis of the bolt. The disc 4 is stepped so as to vary the limits of deflection of the rubber annuli.
