Abstract

1,046,215. Vehicle bumper overriders. M. M. C. PUJOL. May 22, 1964 [May 22. 1963; April 9, 1964], No. 21187/64. Heading B7J. A shock-absorber attachable to the overrider of a vehicle bumper bar comprises a single block of elastic material 1 of substantially prismatic form having a front body portion provided with a number of cavities 2<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6 (not shown), acting as air chambers which assist the shock-absorbing action and an upper pair of flanges 3 extending rearwardly from the front body portion for attachment of the block to the overider 5, Fig. 6 (not shown), the flanges 3 being clampable together by a through bolt 6 held in bushes 7 on plates 5<SP>1</SP> on the flanges 3, thereby locking the shockabsorber on to the overrider and wherein the block is further provided with recesses 2 to facilitate the attachment of the block to the bumper bar 4. The shock-absorber also has a lower pair of flanges bridged by a single plate 5<SP>11</SP> instead of the two plates 5<SP>1</SP> forming parts of the upper flanges 3. In another embodiment the lower pair of flanges are similar to the upper flanges and also connected by a through bolt.
