Abstract

749,872. Distribution fuse-boxes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and MARTIN, K. Oct. 29, 1954 [Nov. 6, 1953], No. 30811/53. Class 38 (1). A distribution box 1 with an insulating cover is adapted for different fuse ratings by altering the position of one set of fuse contacts 28 on an insulating bar 10, and changing the fuse base bodies 23 for others with holes 30, 31 of the spacing corresponding to the new spacing between contacts 28 and the fixed fuse contacts 14. Both contacts are U-shaped with carriercontact engaging parts 33, 15, the limbs of each contact 28 being slotted to guide a terminal piece 34, and parts of the sides of the slots being turned out to form lugs 35 which can engage with any one of three sets of recesses 36 in the sides of a groove 32 in bar 10 which receives the base of the contact. The contact is secured, and a wire clamped, by a screw 37. Each contact 14 is located by a projection 22 on bar 11 and is held in place by a bus-bar 18 which passes through apertures in the contact limbs and engages a semi-circular recess in the projection 22, a locking screw 21 making connection between the bus-bar and the contact. The bus-bar passes through apertures in webs on the bodies to serve as pivots for the bodies, the latter being linked by lugs 29. A double pole switch 4 is provided. In another embodiment (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) a similar, but five-way, unit is shown.
