Abstract
748,614. Hob-plates. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. July 15, 1954 [July 18, 1953], No. 19965/53. Class 126. In a sheet metal hob-plate formed with apertures in which are accommodated heating units and which are provided with downwardly extending flanges one or more strengthening members are provided extending between and secured to either opposing flanges. or with one of such flanges and a downwardly extending flange at the respectively adjacent edge of the plate. In the pressed sheet metal hob-plate 13 shown in Figs. 1 and 2 which is apertured to accommodate electrical heating elements 10, 11, 12, and is provided with a flange 14 around its edge strengthening of the middle section 18 and adjacent sections 19, 20, 21, is accomplished-by the welding to beneath the plate of a suitably shaped pressed sheet metal flanged plate 22 the flanged edges 22a of which are welded, where appropriate, to the flanges 15, 16, 17 surrounding the apertures in the plate 13 and the flange 14. The hob-plate 13 and strengthening plate 22. thus secured together form a box-like structure and in order to enable loose material such as enamel to be emptied therefrom upwardly flanged holes 23 having recesses 24 in the flanges are formed in the plate 22. In a modified reinforced hob-plate the strengthening plate is in addition formed with upwardly pressed indentations such that the plates may be welded together where indentations and hobplate meet as well as at the flanges. Instead of welding the plates may be secured together by screws, rivets or the like.
