Abstract

748,257. Phase-sense sensitive circuits. SPERRY CORPORATION. Sept. 8, 1954 (Nov. 30, 1953], No. 26017/54. Class 38 (4). A modulator consists of a push-pull pair of n-p-n junction transistors 10, 12 having a D.C. input signal Ei of reversible polarity applied differentially to their bases, whilst an A.C. reference signal er is applied via transformer 28 to their emitters. The output eo, which depends in phase and magnitude upon the polarity and magnitude of the D.C. input signal, is obtained at the secondary of the pushpull output transformer 32 connected across the transistor collectors. A condenser 36 tunes the secondary of the transformer 32 to resonance at the frequency of the A.C. reference signal. It is stated that p-n-p transistors may be used by reversing the polarity of the battery 34.
