Abstract
747,212. Ball bearings. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN GES., [formerly VEREINIGTE KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN AKT.- GES.]. Jan. 19, 1954 [Jan. 29, 1953], No. 1645/54. Class 12 (1). A mounting for a bearing race 24 comprises a thinwalled bearing housing 27 in which the race is press-fitted, and both housing and race are formed of ferrous material, the yield point of the material used in forming the housing being lower and the wall thickness thereof being smaller than the corresponding values for the race member. The press fit is such as to cause plastic deformation of the housing and elastic deformation of the race member. An inner race may be press-fitted upon a thin-walled sleeve in a similar manner. Specification 742,384 is referred to.
