Inking mechanism.-In an inking system for a printing cylinder 113 comprising an ink reservoir 300 a roller 299 in the reservoir, a pair of plate inking rollers 314 and a train of rollers 301, 308, 310, 312 between the reservoir roller 299 and the inking rollers, each inking roller 314 is mounted on a pivotal lever 337 having a recess 339 to receive the shaft 335 of the inking roller, a finger 342 pivoted to the lever and a spring 346 for forcing the finger against the shaft to hold it in the recess and also to urge the levers in such a direction as to bring the cylinders together. Movement of the levers in this direction is limited by adjustable stops 348. The shafts 335 have ball-bearings 336 at each end which are adapted to bear on the sloping end faces 341 of the corresponding recess so that the inking rollers are urged thereby to bear on the transfer roller 312. Projections 351 on the levers coact with cam 350 on a manually rotatable shaft 265 so that the rollers 314 may be lifted from cylinder 113 as described in Specification 747,003. The shafts 335 are located longitudinally by plates 345 attached to the inner faces of levers 337 adapted to locate the ball-bearings 336. Specification 747,007 also is referred to.
