An assembly 23 for mounting a wheel balancer 31, 32 on a wheel 10 comprises a centrally flanged body 24 carrying a plurality of symmetrically arranged radially adjustable centring means 55, each having screw-threaded actuating means 43, 44 connected by gear means 48, 50, adjacent the central flange 25, with a common control means 51, 52 for simultaneous centring operation into engagement with the wheel. As shown, the centring means 55 comprise rim-flange engaging fingers each removably pinned to a slide member 40 which is radially adjustable in a bracket 36 riveted to the body 24. Each slide member 40 carries a fixed nut 42 having screw-thread engagement with one end of a shaft 46, the other end of which is keyed to a pinion 47 and secured against axial displacement to the body flange 25. Simultaneous rotation of the pinions 47 to effect centring displacement of the finger-carrying slides 40 is effected by a ring gear 50 which is secured to a manually-rotatable collar 51 to embrace, and bear about the flange 25. The assembly 23 is secured to the wheel 10 by two connectors 60 each shaped as shown in Fig. 7 to provide an off-set apertured foot 61 to fit over a wheel-fixing stud, and having aligned apertures 64, 67 and 74 on its weight distribution axis X-X to receive assembly-body holding screws 65 which engage a screw-threaded sleeve 68 fixed in the aperture 67. The off-set feet of the connectors provide for diametricallyopposed spacing of the body-holding screw apertures whether or not there is a pair of diametrically - opposed wheel fixing studs. Correct centring and spacing of the connectors 60 on the wheel 10 is achieved by a ring tool which is manually centred over the axle cap 13 and has locating spigots to fit in the connector apertures 74. With the connectors centred and clamped on the wheel by the wheel securing nuts 22, the body 24 is screwed thereto and finally centred by operation of the fingers 55. The balancer 31 is then mounted on the body 23 as by clips engaging equispaced posts 33 on the body periphery.
