In an adjustable seat for transportation means having a back 1 pivoted at 20 to the seat frame 9, the seat 2 being pivoted to the back for movement therewith, a forwardly projecting arm 6 with a toothed sector 7 is fixed to a back-frame 3 secured to the back 1 ; said sector engaging a tooth 18 on an arm 14 pivoted at 16 to the seat frame. The seat 2 is pivoted to the back frame 3 by a member 4. A spring 10 tends to push arm 6 clockwise and a spring 17 pulls arm 14 anti-clockwise. Disengagement of 18 from the toothed sector by pushing arm 14 forward allows adjustment of the seat and back, securing in the new position being by release of arm 14.
